Now let’s look at a couple of things Collins did wrong today:

Plawecki?! Choooof. Plawecki has responded to the rising tide of Rivera by completely caving. He’s making mental mistakes (he didn’t know he could make a force out today–that’s unreal bush) as well as batting worse than ever.
Obviously, bringing in Familia in a save situation was the right move. I don’t know why Familia is having so much trouble but with a 3-run lead, he let up only(?) 1 and so it’s good enough. He’s gotta work through it.
Harvey Day tomorrow. Up against Fernandez (the best pitcher in the league right now). SO BIG!
He changes the whole damn lineup. He puts fear in the opposing pitcher’s heart. It’s all Yo and we all know this. When he’s dangerous, so is everyone else. Stick Conforto back in the 3-hole and let’s see him feast again.
Not to mention Thor gettin it done for us. Nice rebound from the ejection game.
Rivera should catch every day. Everyone’s thinking it.
On a night where Soup got demoted and the Jewpons got even MORE RELIEF from the government for their heinous thievery, we still managed to have a terrible day.
This might’ve been the worst loss of the season. Granted, a little of it is on Matz. Matz was absolutely cruising, and then all of a sudden he lost it. The game kind of washed over everyone. The White Sox have enough hitting that you can’t sleep on them.
Thor in relief was fun. Ronnie thought 1 inning was enough so I buy that. But Captain Shitty Hook really did a number on us. I’m not even mad at Robles. It’s all on Terry. How the fuck can you bring in Robles in a 1-run game!? He lets up a dinger per inning. He needs time in the minors or something. I like the kid but he needs to work some issues out. You could’ve even brought in Bastardo there. Bring in anyone but Robles in a 1 run game. That’s where he’s at right now and everyone knows it but you, Terry. Reed and Fam both unavailable? Give me a fucking break. It’s a 1 run game.
You just can’t blow 4 run leads and claim you have good pitching. We have to be better than that. That loss happened so quickly. It was 4-0 Mets and then wham bam we lose. The thing is that we DO have better pitching than that. Collins really pushed the wrong buttons.
deGrom in the rubber game today. Boy, if Harvey is back (praaaay), then our rotation really is fucking filthy. Like how we imagined it would be during preseason. This should’ve been a sweep but I’m confident in our ability to win each and every series with our horses. Meanwhile, we are near the very bottom of the league (25th) in runs scored. We’d be in dead last if not for Yo. Christ, we blow.
Hats off to Rene Rivera for taking charge behind the plate. Plawecki’s not hitting. TDA is dead. Rivera’s skills as a defenseman and game manager make him #1 in my current depth chart.
We’re not hitting. Without Cespedes, we’d be under .500 but hey we got him so it’s all good. Neil Walk-Year hit a solo dinger and we won 1-0, thanks to bounce-back performances by Harvey and Familia. They’re not all the way back, but this was a promising first step. If Harvey is the Dark Knight again, and Familia is the closer we know he can be, we’re back on pace for 100 wins.
It’d be nice to see more hitting–situational hitting, bunting, keeping the line moving, etc. Let’s see if Loney can provide that for us.

Wake the fuck up, Mets. It’s a long season. Familia’s ERA is over 4, the bullpen had an ERA over 9 for this series, and we’re STILL NOT HITTING.
Flores came back just in time to go 0-3 (though it was Kershaw so whatever).

The Mets have acquired first baseman James Loney in a straight-cash-homie trade with the Padres. He only played for the Padres’ minor league team. Oops. Well, I guess this means Duda is officialy D-E-A-mofuckin’-D.
In Triple-A this season, Loney hit .342 with a .373 OBP and .424 SLG in 43 games. Loney has a .285 average and a .338 OBP over 10 major league seasons while playing with the Dodgers, Rays and Red Sox.
Good. I’m good with it. I still would’ve liked to see Lagares in CF, Yo in LF, and Conforto at 1B, but whatever. Moves. Moves. Moves.
