1 Down, 10 to Go

Mets 3, Dodgers 1

deGrom. Yes. We already knew it. Now the world knows it. Everyone’s watching, and everyone’s talking, so I just want to make 1 point that I haven’t seen someone else write:

Curtis Granderson is (also) the hero of last night’s game. He is (also) the team mvp for the season. Last night, with a 1-2 count, Grandy worked a walk to load the bases. DW hit the big single in the next AB. Grandy did this against the toughest lefty (besides Matz) and he’s been doing this all year. He quietly put together an incredible year and he did it again last night. In fact, he was all over Kershaw all game. Grandy. Boom.

1 down, 10 to go.

Lil Mets, Lil Yanks, Lil Bullshit

Matt Harvey pretty much gave all these reasons.
Matt Harvey pretty much gave all these reasons.

So let’s first discuss Matt Harvey showing up late…I get it. He’s pissed. He wanted game 1 and got game 3. Well too fucking bad! Grow up, young bull. I love that Wright called him out. I love that TC successfully defused the situation.

The media needs to chill the fuck out, though. And so do the fans. Metsblow Nation, RELAX. Matt Harvey is a MAD PUPPY. He’s a bulldog. He’s our puppy. Some lil chitlins will be like deGrom–perfect and sweet and quiet and all business. Some will be like Harvey–a mad dog off the leash. Wright and TC leashed him up real good. But he’s still lashing out. He’ll do things like that. It’s his nature. You still should love him. These are our kiddies, and not everyone can be the angel that deGrom can be. There are Tim Duncans and there are Kobe Bryants. You want both on your team. We must continue to help Harvey grow as best as we can. Nothing is worse than a mad dog that gets beat. We must nurture his growth witht he right combination of discipline and love. Remember that. Remember that he’s still just a puppy. Remember that Wright DID discipline him. He ain’t getting off that easy. Game 3 is his.

Now, on to the Yankees: HAW HAW! HAW FUCKING HAW! Way to boo, you stupid fucking retarded fans. You spoiled pieces of shit. Fuck y’all. And I love that Gomez and his balky hip hit a dinger. Kaboom. So glad they lost. And now they’re all saying, “good luck Mets! We like both NY teams!” FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING LOSERS!!! Go away.

The Importance of the No-No

Mets 1, Nats 0

The Mets pulled deGrom in the middle of a no-no bid today. Yesterday, Scherzer no-hit the Mets.

BEAUTIFUL. PERFECT. I couldn’t think of a better “we don’t give a fuck, fuck you” than today. Yes, granted, we’re not hitting well. The bats are cold. But the point is the game didn’t mean SHIT. Yesterday’s no-no didn’t mean SHIT. Today’s would not have meant SHIT. And that’s what’s so great. We don’t caaaaaaare. The season is over. We’re onto the playoffs. A no-no? Well, look, when it was Nohan, it was different. Nohan took a cursed franchise and finally got us of an epic, embarrassing schnide. Today would have been NOTHING. It would have been sinking down to their try-hard level and risking injury.

I love that deGrom was pulled. I love that zero stock was put into this game. Beat LA.

The Effects of Bruised Fingers

Este bruise.
Este bruise.

Phillies 3, Mets 0

Foul Ball Guy might not take much pride in it, but with about 50 people (yes, 50) in the stands, there were so many foul balls to be had. I’ve never caught one…or even picked one up in an empty stadium after many bounces. I should have traveled to Philly for this one.

So yeah, who cares? Nobody. Let’s move on to the issue at finger:

"My fingers hurt." "Well now your back's gonna hurt, cuz you just pulled landscaping duty."
“My fingers hurt.”
“Well now your back’s gonna hurt, cuz you just pulled landscaping duty.”

Let me state ON THE INTERNET AND THEREFORE THIS IS BINDING: If Cespedes goes 0-10 or 1-12 or whatever in the playoffs, and the fanbase turns on him (due to media anti-hype) and the Jewpons don’t sign him, then I quit. We hope for the best, but considering the injury, AND the pitching he’s going up against, AND the small sample size, his playoff performance cannot be properly judged. We hope for the best. We PRAY for the best. But the Mets front office is looking for an excuse not to pay him, and having a bad NLDS with semi-broken fingers against historically filthy pitching is just the excuse they want.

So, preemptively, let me state one more time: Cespedes should be a made man and should already be paid.

Never Been Happier About a Loss

Will the Mets lose today? Probably. I’m not even gonna wait to post this.

I don’t care! The Gods are good!! Somehow, Cespedes isn’t dead. The last 3 hours took about 3 years off my life. But we prayed to the Red God and Yoenis is born again. Good news for Mets fans. This season is so not us. We never get good news. Unreal.

Don’t play the starters. Philly is after us. The Nats will be, too. Don’t risk it. Sit the starters. Sit them and pray.

By the way, Flores left the game with lower back stiffness. Same as Matz. Spinal stenosis is contagious. Pray pray pray.

Oh and also, this game totally sucked. Long and painful and sloppy as shit. Look how much we blow without Cespedes.

I Didn’t Watch the Game

The Mets won. I don’t know the score. I saw DeGrom returned to form. As one of my two war room generals put it, let the Reckers of the fan base get this one. Today we rest.

What a glorious rest it was. I probably would’ve ended up watching if I was home, but I had a softball game. We won. Everything’s coming up Milhouse.

Also, the Dodgers lost. We care. Make your jokes about how we suck at home now, but you want the higher seed. Of course you do. If you take the whole season into account, the Dodgers are GREAT at home and BAD away. The Mets are apparently perfectly capable of winning anywhere, so get the Dodgers the fuck out of Cali.

Should Harvey Pitch Today?

Mets 12, Reds 5

Duda 2 dingers blah blah. Thor great start yada yada.

Let’s get down to business here: The magic number is 1 (Nattitude!). Harvey is on the mound today. Should he be pitching? Of course he should be. We can finish it today and that’s exactly what we should do. Finish it. Don’t let anything crazy happen. Don’t let it go to Philly where hey who knows maybe just maybe but no way but maybe the Phillies are game to spoil our party. Maybe just maybe but no way the Nats step up and start winning but yeah no way.

So, mainly thanks to Nattitude, this hasn’t really been a pennant race. Even so, the people saying we should rest Harvey are retarded. It ain’t over till it’s over. Of course you put Harvey out there today. Close it out today and then you can officially rest everyone for 2 weeks and that should be plenty. Close it out today and we can watch Recker and EY and Soup in the starting lineup for the last games of the season and have a good laugh about it.

Everyone get the fuck off of Harvey’s back. He’s coming off of MAJOR SURGERY. No shit he’s confused. No shit everyone’s confused. The dude is a young beast in the limelight. Give him a fucking break. Across town, they’re lovingly embracing A-Roid as a hero for getting them to the postseason. The Yankee fans may be dumb assholes, but they cheer for winners. Harvey has been a big part of our first winning season in a long time. He’s been a big part of the culture change here. For fucks sake, cut the kid a break. Metsblow Nation knows that all these bullshit problems and media spins are a result of the Jewpons fucking things up and then manipulating the media to point the finger at the players. Don’t be fooled.

Magic Number 3…Wow

Mets 6, Reds 4

Hard to imagine a team with Votto, Phillips, and Bruce could be so awful. They have rookie pitching. We have rookie pitching. The difference? Ours are elite (supposedly) and there’s are poo-poo. We’ll see what Thor can do on the road tonight.

So-so start from Steven Matzohballsoup. Atone for that shit, brother. Whatever. We won. Back-to-back-to-back hits from Murph, Cespedes, and Duda sealed the deal. That’s what we’ve been waiting for. More Nattitude helped us and our magic number is now at 3. Remarkable. What’s funny is that 90 wins (we may finish with a couple more) is good enough to make the playoffs as a wildcard team 4 out of 5 years. And it just so happens that this year, 90 would NOT be enough. The Pirates and Cubs will both finish with better records than the Mets. Somehow, someway, (keep coming up with funky ass shit like every single day), the predicted 100+ wins Nats might not even get to 82. Wow. NL LEAST. Wow.
